My Story
Hi, I am Karin Ravalese, MSc. Physical Education and Human Performance.
Exercise Physiologist specializing in retraining less-than-optimal breathing and movement patterns. Immaculate Dissection teaching team member and teaching assistant for Neurokinetic Therapy (NKT).
I am passionate about diaphragmatic breathing and functional movement. Dedicated to helping individuals stop training dysfunctional movement patterns and learn how to break free from the tightness, discomfort, and injury trap.
My passion for human movement prompted me to expand my knowledge base through anatomy studies. I firmly believe that if you understand the anatomy behind things, you will have a better understanding of what you see in someone’s movement pattern. Less-than-optimal breathing and movement patterns can leave us vulnerable to injury, and my goal is to help you avoid that.
With close to 25 years of experience in health and wellness, physical education, and human movement. Teaching and training martial arts, group training classes, and working with individuals of all ages.
It was my love for Taekwondo that prompted me to learn more about Physical Education, health, and human movement. Taekwondo was my driving force to seek out ways to be a better practitioner and teacher, a better mover, and achieve overall optimal health and well-being. It wasn’t until I devoted time to learning Anatomy through Immaculate Dissection and learned how to apply it functionally to my training that things really started to fall into place. I firmly believe that when you understand the anatomy and how to apply it functionally, it really doesn’t matter what sport/activity you decide to participate in, the tool being used, or the exercise you choose. It is the functional anatomy and the application that matter. My mission is to continue to devote the rest of my life to learning and applying sound functional anatomy to my training and to anyone who works with me. I got you!
I battled with my own movement discrepancies while training for a strength and endurance certification. I wanted answers about why I was experiencing so much neck pain! I can tell you firsthand how frustrating it can be to have to continue operating with such tightness, pain, and discomfort all while trying to continue with my workouts. This neck pain also affected my daily activities, sleep, and martial arts training. I knew something was off, and it had nothing to do with my age, activity, or sport. It wasn’t until I did the deep dive that I started to look at breathing and movement patterns that weren’t serving me. I literally stopped training bad patterns and started integrating these new patterns into everyday life.
Let’s work together to stop training bad patterns and integrate new functional breathing and movement patterns into your daily life and activities.
